
By negligently discarding plastic, especially plastic water bottles, fishing gear and plastic bags, people are unknowingly causing the deaths of millions of mammals, fish, birds and reptiles every year.
If you do not engage in a recycling program then shame on you.

Ever since the new cheaper lightweight and durable style of plastic bag was introduced to the public, people have been finding more and more uses for them. Of course, anyone that has done any shopping in recent years will recognize plastic bags as the merchants first choice in a container to put a customers merchandise in. However; creative individuals just keep on finding more and more uses for plastic bags that are simple and cheap.

Recently, what most people refer to as “plastic” bags have found their way into the news recently, because they have become an environmental problem in many communities. There are however, many facts that need to be clarified on this issue, before it can be approached with the goal of reaching an intelligent decision, one way or another.

Plastics are a part of our daily lives and its hard to avoid them even when we are concerned about their safety to our food and beverages. There is a way for us to know which plastics are worse and which aren’t as bad. Many plastic bottles and containers carry a symbol that can help in deciding if we want to use them or not.

"Plastics" derived their name from their properties to be molded, cast, extruded or processed into a variety of forms, including solid objects, films and filaments. These properties arise from their molecular structure. Plastics are polymers, very long chain molecules that consist of subunits (monomers) linked together by chemical bonds. The monomers of petrochemical plastics are inorganic materials (such as styrene) and are not biodegradable.
